This fabric shade structure protects vehicles from UV degradation at a municipal corporate yard in San Mateo County, CA. The Town of Hillsborough has several trucks (shown on left side of photo) with expensive rubber hoses attached to vacuum pumps. Ultraviolet sun light continually damaged them, which rendered them useless when needed for emergencies. The Public Works department cost-justified the shade structure based upon reduced hose wear and increased truck dependability.
The shade structure measures 42’ x 32’ and has 14’ clearance. It is engineered to withstand 110 MPH wind with the fabric attached.
Shade Comforts was the design-build contractor.
