Shade sails cover much of the 3rd-floor rooftop lounge at this newly-constructed office building in downtown Palo Alto. In the heart of California’s Silicon Valley, this community is in Santa Clara County close to the southern border of San Mateo County.
The struture has (3) posts and (4) sails of high density polyethelene (HDPE) cable-tensioned shade fabric. Three of these sails also attach to the elevator building. The architect also wanted two of them secured to 4′ long outriggers that project horizontally for eye-catching appeal above street level 45′ below.
We bolted the posts to pipe stubs welded to steel beams below the paved flooring.
